Okay TSR so I wouldn't dare post this anyplace else (I know I'm anon, but still).
I have a problem where I have friends who are from Islamic cultures who have super conservative ideas about sex, e.g. it's sinful for men and women to do anything sexual outside marriage, hell it's even sinful for a man to look at a woman who is not in hijab, it's sinful to masturbate, you shouldn't have sex with someone unless you're both in love, blabla. And I don't want to stop being friends with them cos of their stupid opinions about sex, but knowing their opinions bothers me cos I don't think there's anything wrong with sex outside marriage or having a ****, actually I'm in a sense really sexually liberal even by Western standards? Like I don't believe in calling women sluts, don't have a probem with polyamory, etc. However because their stupid opinions are related to their Islamic cultural upbringings it feels dodgy for me to be like 'your opinions are ridiculous'. I feel like I'm being culturally insensitive if I sound off about the stupidity of their opinions anywhe re (or even THINK 'wow that's ****ed up', so I repress my annoyance to a degree, and feeling like I can't totally condemn their opinions without being an evil colonialist or something makes me feel like maybe their opinions are kind of right?
IDK TSR. Is there anyone else whose white guilt or w/e make them this insane? I know there are feminists who do crap like call other feminists who say straightforward things like 'Saudi Arabia has a very misogynistic culture' racist or w/e but I don't think they necessarily actually believe it or even put much thought into the whole thing
