A quick & silly English question (forgive me)

  • Thread Starter

For your reference, here's the whole conversation, but I'm only confused with one sentence.

Girl tweeted: I'll write notes on the mirror in dry-erase and show up to your work with you favourite donuts and coffee.
Boy commented: I'm sorry but I don't believe you exist!
Girl: lol story of my life
Boy: story of my life too! That saying "nice guys finish last" is pretty true!
Girl: but they get the best girls
Boy: awww bless you, I'm far too cynical though
Girl: maybe you'll see the light some day
Boy: hopefully soon because I'm crackin on a bit now!

Yes I'm just not sure what "cracking on a bit" means here, because the only meaning for crack on I know in English is "to continue/start doing something", usually followed by "with something".

Sorry maybe I should post it on English Study section???LOL
