Hey y'all!
It always stresses me out to start a phone call. I mean, couple of years ago, I started by cutting right to the chase. For example, if I'm calling a hotel to check whether there's a vacancy or not, it would be like "hey do you have a room available this afternoon?" right after the clerk picked up their phone. I had no problem with this until my ex told me she was mortified by how I talk on the phone. And she told me I gotta start with saying "good morning" and useless bull****s and when the other says something like "how can I help you" then I should start asking. It worked for couple of months since the time she taught me stuffs, but now I've forgotten everything she said except "gotta say good-somthing then wait til' the other says how can I help you" haha. The thing is, this damaged "routine" just doesn't work for me anymore. I'd call someone and say "Hi, good morning!" and say nothing though I know exactly what I want to say. Of course every single phone call I have has t his weird, awkward, and silent moment after the easy "good morning" part.
Is it okay for me to say "Hi, good afternoon! I've got a couple of inquiries here is it good time to ask?" If it is, that's gonna be my new "routine" hehe.
Put the internet to work for you.
