R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means...

What does it mean to everyone? How do people earn respect? How do they behave to cause others to lose respect? How does it feel? How do you show it?

Dictionary app says:

3. esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or ability: I have great respect for her judgment.

4. deference to a right, privilege, privileged position, or someone or something considered to have certain rights or privileges; proper acceptance or courtesy; acknowledgment: respect for a suspect's right to counsel; to show respect for the flag; respect for the elderly.

There seem to be so many manifestations of respect. For instance, I respect my SO, so I don't emasculate him in public or private. I respect my children, so I listen to their opinions and perspectives and let them know I value them. I respect my parents, so I I respect my boss, so I consider his coaching and directing carefully and do my best.

I'm asking because it has been said that I don't respect my exH with whom I'm trying to reconcile. I'm not sure if I do or not. I feel like I do, but the person who suggested it is pretty intuitive.

Sock it to me... ;)
