Was the Passover a Myth?

As you may know, I've been struggling with whether to take the leap towards atheism or whether I'll stick to my RCC roots. I've heard the idea before that the Israelites were never slaves in Egypt. I've heard and read about the Hyskos being in Egypt, and that they were the group upon which the book of Exodus was based upon. But the Hyskos were never ever slaves. Also, it appears that the archaeological evidence of the Exodus and the notion that Jews were living in Egypt as slaves for 400 years is nonexistent. So, it the Passover a myth or is there hope that what was written in the Bible accurate on this count? I skeptical now that it's true.
