| My name is "John" and I've been with my girlfriend for 3 years and 4 months now - A very loving relationship indeed. It is kind of a "long distance" relationship - She lives about an hour away from me, I',m 20 and she's 22 years old. I believe I have an interesting situation here and I'm hoping you can help. When we first started dating, she said she wanted to wait until marriage for sex - About a year and a half later I told her this (By the way, I totally regret saying this, and I feel horrible for doing so.) I said if we're not going to have sex, then it'll be like a ticking time bomb and we'll probably just end up splitting. I said that out of pure frustration and anger, I really didn't mean it. Well, that really came to bite me in the ass - Even after I said that about 2 years ago. My girlfriend has told me she has thought about what I've said for the past several months and it hurts her. She said I've moved down on her priority list and she said even though she loves me, she wanted to break up. Well, I asked if we could at least try to save what we have, after all you don't know what the outcome will be until you try. This is what she asked for... -She said she would try her best to move me up on her priority list - She would try her best to "see past" the words that I've said - She wants me to at least try to boost my memory. Honestly she does have to tell me stuff multiple times before I remember it. - She wants me to take her out on more dates, like movies and dinner and what not. Now... she just went back to online college and does her work throughout the day. Here's the part that frustrates me, I will text her "Good Morning Beautiful! I love you." and she won't even bother to respond. Really the only thing I want is "I'm doing so and so, I can't really talk but I love you too." I'm willing to change and fix our relationship but it seems like the past few days she's done nothing but ignore me, even though she told me that she would put just as much effort into this as I am. So what do you think? Do I just need to give her space and be patient? Do you think we should "have a talk"? The reason I ask is because I'm a young guy, this is my longest relationship I've ever had, and I truly don't know what to do. I'd love to stay with her, but how much is enough??? | |||
