Do uni guys like being asked out buy girls or feel intimidated?

I have always have a huge crush on this guy since I started uni. We are in the same course but then he took a year out. He is now in the year below than me. After 2 years, we started talking on facebook recently about work/ revision ( I know!! ) I have a question : Do guys feel intimidated or like it if a girl shows interests in him and ask him out for a cafe? If you could, please answer my question in the perspective of guys who are at uni :) Thanks!
