Unsure what to say to friend I slept with

I'm in a friendship group of a few guys, and a couple of days ago we had a party. I cuddled with one of my friends (he's a guy, as am I) for the entire evening, and we then slept together. It wasn't "sex" in the strictest meaning of the word, but I did give him oral and we kissed a lot. It felt quite passionate, at least from my pov. I want to ask him what it meant to him but the thing is, I'm openly gay and he's straight - or so we thought. Might he have been experimenting? Maybe, but I don't think so as he was hard after just kissing, which suggests he was turned on. It's still awkward though, as I don't know if he's certain of his sexual orientation or wants to share it. I want to talk to him about it (though it'll have to be done through text, as I don't see him all too often) but I'm not sure how to. I don't want to screw it up, as I'd rather like to make something more of it. I'm also a little worried about it being awkward between us - we skype as a group every day. What do you think I should say to him? Thanks :)
