'Friend-Zone'.

I have a few questions about 'friend-zoning'! For those who don't know what it is, 'friend-zone' is a slang term used to describe the standings of a relationship. I.e If you're friend-zoned, you have no chance of getting with that person because you're too close as friends.

My questions are -

1. At what stage in a friendship/relationship do you friend-zone someone?

2. What determines whether you 'friend-zone' someone or not?

3. Is 'friend-zoning' an easy, polite and safe excuse to tell someone you're not interested?

4. Once you're in the zone, can you get out?

5. Have you had any experience with the whole 'friend-zoning' phase? If so, what happened?
